...fun!11
So we (meaning lots of people collectively) have a lot of work to do between now and the end of the semester. It just makes me feel better to be aware of the fact that I'm not the only person with too much work and FAR too little drive to actually get it done. So I have a list!!!
( UBOAR )
I still have yet to make a real entry... but I just don't have much else to say at the moment XD. My mind's sort of all over the place. But, hey, it's Halloween soon! Yay candy!
Oh yes, and on a final note I HATE TIFA (ESPECIALLY when people pair her with Cloud). There. I feel better.

It's been forever since I last posted but I'm gonna rant today...

First of all, I don't want to go back to school. This isn't just a usual "oh noo free time is goooone" sort of feeling, but that mixed with a sense of dread at taking as many hours as I'm taking this semester and the fact that I'm hoping to graduate in a year (school year). I have NO IDEA what I want to do after I secure my undergraduate degree and while I do want to (and probably will) go to graduate school, that doesn't solve the problem of being lost (...in space...the space of my own vacant mind). I don't even rightfully know what I'm good at enough to make it into a career. Because I do want a career, not just a job (thought I'd certainly be willing to take a job in order to work toward a career).
( But Chibis Make Everything Better )
That was, by far, the strangest LJ post that I've ever written. I started out thinking I was going to write whatever came to mind and then I ended up drawing and making that darn menu the entire time. But I'm sure I'll have lots of school complaints when I write again, so I'm going to end it here with some satisfaction since I'm still looking at two weeks left of summer.
By the way,
allegoriest wrote an EPIC poem about my bunny. Go see.

I have a NEW COMPUTER~~~~~
He's an HP that we got from best buy and completely wonderful~ I've vowed to keep barely anything on him in an effort to preserve his awesomeness. My Gateway (STU) is still around since we picked him up yesterday, and the reformatting made him seem more superior than the state I left him in, but he's been a bit shunned for being consistently awful this summer in favor of kirk (mr. bright, shiny, new computer). I think that he inherently knew that I wanted a new computer (and was going to get one because we've talked about getting a new laptop before my senior year in college since the first year I attended) and decided to go "SCREW YOU, SARAH" once summer hit. After all, he overheated, the fan broke, the screen went out, and then he went completely freaky and gave me the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH near the beginning of this month. I was in a lurch at that point in time as the last time I gave him to the helpless desk it took them a full month to order parts. So I trudged through in safe mode for a week or so before we got organized to get a new computer (since the Dell ordering business fell through). I'm supremely happy though (with the exception of window's vista, which isn't as user-friendly as XP)
( illogical summery nonsense )

...but only just a little. You see, I've always had a certain threshold of nerdy. You could say that there was a certain "point" below which I hadn't fallen yet. Even though I can quote from Monty Python, read Harry Potter a day before the premier of a new movie just to make sure I could point out the differences, get every decent RPG in America, MST3K the night away, and generally like things from Japan, I could always sit back at the end of the day and say "well, at least I'm not a Trekkie". All I have to say to that now is "CURSE YOU, JJ ABRAMS!!!!!11"

Be veeeery glad that you don't have to write the paper I'm writing on bell hooks. I'm getting a bit stressed out over a number of things that happen at the end of the semester (though nothing to do with panic disorder! I seemed to have dodged that bullet well enough so far, unlike many female college students *according to the numbers). But venting is healthy, so I thought I'd try me some :3
( Now really, how much can you complain? )
Now that that's over, I can go over, roughly, the rest of what I'm supposed to do in the next two weeks.

Monday 05/04 - Neething
Tuesday 05/05 - Final Paper due in Grammar
Wednesday 05/06 - American Lit Final
Thursday 05/06 - Abnormal Psychology Final (at 8am nooooo)

And I REALLY want to get that game informer magazine with the story on Assassin's Creed 2. Reeealllly DDD:!!!!!!

I spent the other day going really fast through the various scanlated chapters of Tsubasa and I even wrote a little bit about it. So...heere it is:
( Feathers away~ )
And now for a reality check:
Things that are due:
Abnormal Psychology : 04/21 - Interview paper, 04/28 and 04/30 - Case Analysis Presentation
Children's Literature : 04/20 - Journal, 04/27 - Project #4 (The library thing =___= ), 04/29 - Project #5 (core reading list) test
American Literature Survey : 04/29 - Paper (2500 words) due (25% of my grade D: )
Traditional Grammar : 04/16 - Email Dr. Perez my presentation outline, BY 05/05 - Turn in final paper/ Poor Dr. Perez D: He has back problems like my mom and they got a lot worse this semester, to the point where he had to cancel much of class. As it stands, we don't have to take a final and we're not meeting physically in class again for the rest of the semester. We just have to do the project and email it to him to grade before and after his surgery.

But I am ripping off your quoting style (imitation is the sincerest form of plagiarism)
"I'm sure that you all know this, but Mark Twain didn't invent Slavery."
-Dr. LeCoeur, on Mark Twain and Slavery
That class can be pretty random sometimes XD . But WHY did I start out with such a strange quotation? Because this journal entry is a combination of things, and I guess that'll somehow be relevant eventually.
NOTE: my tone and subject matter changes drastically with the bold heading. It goes from Zombie fun to angry rant in...like...three sentences.
( Oh gosh...where am I going with this?! )
And now I'm avoiding sleeping because I haven't been able to get into contact with my teacher all weekend...and the project I don't understand (and that I haven't done) is due tomorrow...er today. I hope she's alright D: (I exchanged emails with a girl I know in the class and she asked for an extension but didn't get an answer back either. She ALSO hasn't worked on the project since she doesn't get it either).

Even more for children's lit next week which is ANNOYING - we have far too many assignments in that class. I wouldn't mind so much if they didn't seem ultimately pointless >/ )

I don't really want to talk about school this week.
allegoriest really covered everything interesting in her entries XD
So, instead, I'll talk about the inspiration I got from her 'relationslips' game (with Sailor Moon at the time) and how I went home and proceeded to make some of my own. I got the idea when we were driving away from school last Thursday, and I promptly made myself really car sick by writing down characters in my trusty spiral on the way home. I got better...
Sisie liked the idea so much that she decided to help me. We did 20 rounds of this and I've picked out a few choice pairings from those various rounds, and I even have a bit to say about each of them.
( Is 'coffin up love' too much? )
That took FOREVER
Man, for some crazy reason, I've wanted to watch Sailor Moon all weekend. I don't know why...but it seems that sort of a kick is starting again. Movie Roulette is to blame!

There is so much I need to be doing right now.
Here's a list:
-Work on my bell hooks presentation (I know what I want to say but it's too VAGUE). It's due at 12 on Monday
-Get in contact with my bell hooks presentation partner (I still haven't since yesterday D: )
-Work on my children's website project (I play games mostly)
-Study me some grammar
-Take another online quiz for Children's lit (chapter 2!!)
-Start a reading log or something
-Review abnormal psychology for test next week (On Sisie's birthday D: )
-GET STUFF for sisie's birthday
-Wish Leene well~~ (get better)
Here's what I've done instead:
-Volunteered my time (that I don't have) for people who won't accept it
-FAKE translated less than half of Sakura Gari chapter 6 (more of that in a bit)
-Stalked my friend's list looking for news of Sakura Gari/Totally Captivated/anything to distract me
-Got my hair cut
-WENT TO THE DOCTOR
-Wrote an LJ entry when I should have been working
So, about the doctor's office - I had to go since I had that whole horrible kidney stone trouble. It was full of older people (and one young guy who had TWO kidney stones. He talked about CAD(D)? (that thing I hear Sabina talking about) to his friend the whole time. It's a super small waiting room too (like, the size of our bathroom at school (the sink part). It's in the medical center, in a building that looks just like every hotel or business office from the 70's (or what I've seen in moves from the 70's anyway). Mom thinks it was built in the late 60's.
Anyway, the people were pretty nice and the doctor even came out to get me himself. We sort of stared at each other and he said that he'd have the stone evaluated and all I could do till then (I'm returning in a month) is drink a lot of water. He didn't believe that I had back problems because I was too young until I told him it was genetic. Also, everyone kept asking me how old I was D: Mom said it was because they didn't know if I was legal - aka they weren't sure they could ask me personal questions. It wasn't bad overall.
( This makes absolutely NO sense )

I've been wanting to redo my LJ stuff for awhile but I've been far too lazy to do anything other than repeat "I want to redo my LJ stuff" over and over for months.
Since Saiyuki is pretty much my favorite thing/manga/whathaveyou of all time, I've made it SAIYUKI THEMED

(I do spoil them)
So now that I'm better (except for this horrible cold business), I've been to all my classes (meaning I crawled there, kept my face in tissue, and coughed up a lung). First impressions:
MW
10:30: Child/Adolescent Literature (BSH): This classroom happens in a SCIENCE room because they had to add the second section right before the semester started and it had to be in this weird place so it could be at the same time as the one I actually signed up for. So far I've colored and drawn a bunny sitting on a hill. It seems like a cute class. Barely anyone there...
12:00: American Literature (AD): It took the longest for me to find this room since it's in the OTHER end of the former dorm, opposite of where we had Japanese II. It looks like it used to be a dorm XD. My advisor (the teacher) is actually quite hard (so far). She'll call on you randomly and mark it down if you answer right or wrong D: (25% of the grade actually)
TR
9:00 (whyyy!?!) Abnormal Psychology (Gorman): This class is in the general education/businessy/psychology rooms. It's frighteningly overcrowded (not to mention the smallest room). I tend to like psych electives so I hope this one turns out well.
1:30: Traditional Grammar (HIT): This classroom's in the hidden building between the Admisitration one and the Art building. It's more ancient-looking than the AD rooms, and huuuge (with uncomfortable chairs), but it seems like an interesting class...I really need to review grammar.

Well, it's been a terrible, terrible week. I'll be brief and say that last Sunday I woke up in horrible pain, couldn't stop throwing up, so they had to take me to the ER D:
While there, I waited an eternity, threw up some more, got blood tested, scanned, prodded, and then finally got medicines when the doctor said I had a kidney stone. I think (hope) it's gone now. I was so sick I had to miss the entire first week of school. Good times DDDD:
That's all I want to say about that for right now. At least there wasn't much homework assigned since it was the first week.
In other news, I finally got motivated to do Seasons 2 and 3 of Kyo Kara Maoh! Yay!

( Holy Sporks! )
So, school starts again on Tuesday (my first day!) and while I'm not looking forward to it, in a way I am. I hopefully means that I'm feeling better! Either way, I have to go to get work done DDDD:

For some reason (I'm still debating why) after getting the ninth volume of Kyo Kara Maoh's second season, I felt the incessant need to watch it from the beginning. The third season is unlicensed here but it's been partially fansubbed so I also procured those before starting my semi-marathon. Of course, I was sick for over half of it which is why I managed to get through the episodes so quickly.

(Yeah, all this just flew by)
I've always said that Kyo Kara Maoh has FAR too many characters but after getting through 109 episodes, I decided that I wanted to list them. I've divided them by season (season 1 is the longest X___x) and I've also numbered them for your convenience.
( down the toilet then, I guess )
The really sad thing is, after 109 episodes, I'm not even done (I've seen up to 117 listed in places, but they haven't been released/fansubbed)...it ended in a bad place too D:
I will be very surprised if anyone has the patience to read that through XD

(Yeah, all this just flew by)

Since watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 is just about all I've been doing for the past few days. It really helps me to forget about the sickies DDDDD:
So I'm not sure what's wrong with me but we assume it's horrible horrible allergies. My head's been hurting sooooo bad over the past few days so forgive me if this entry's not alltogether eloquent.
So HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone : D
We watched "Manos" The Hands of Fate after the clock turned over to 2009. We hope that watching one of the worst movies ever made will make for a better year.
Christmas was eventful. Sabina and I made each other the exact same gag gift (see: Snuggies) and it still amuses me to think (or look) on it. She made me a bunny (KARUME) that I have to romanize myself D: . I got a calendar (Saiyuki. It's more a giant collection of posters than an actual calendar), SANZO (the cat), two bunnies (Teddie and Nao Nao), A P4 artbook, another bunny (GOJYO), an ipod (from Dad) and a bit of leftover monies. I used part of this to buy a cheap tablet and I love it so... :3
( So Much To Say...So Little Energy )
I don't want to go back to school, but I take some solace in the fact that I have another week and people don't usually do too much on the first week of school anyway. Financial Aid might actually cover book costs which would spare my parents.
So, I'll write again when I'm feeling better. Back to tracing!
(PS: This post is dedicated to Eric since I know not posing makes him sad T___T)

I need to start posting a little more often than once a month D:
So what's happened since the beginning of November?
-School work (blaargh)
-My birthday?!?! (I got me some games, a LOVELY ARTBOOK, and other randomy things)
-More school (nyaaaaa)
-Thanksgiving break - I spent it doing absolutely nothing (in a general state of USELESS)
-Thanksgiving - we had family over.
Highlights:
-Uncle Michael has TEETH
-Summer = Vegetarian? (apparently not)
-Michelle = Hippy? (apparently so)
-Turkey!!! (though that's nothing new)
-Random video game stuff (like you weren't expecting it XD
-SCHOOOOOOL (At least I've learned I'm dumb D: )
Anyway, I guess the most recent thing first : finals
Monday: English Literature Survey (10:45 - 12:45) - This final apparently may (possibly) not turn out as badly as I figured it would. It's going to be a certain number of questions and we only pick the ones we're most comfortable answering (3 out of 5? Something like that). The most challenging thing is my utter lack of comprehension when it comes to England as a NATION (Churchill?)
Tuesday: History of Ancient Philosophy (1:30-3:30) - It's like the other Dr. O'Connor finals I've taken (comprehensive). This course was mostly about rememebering who goes with what (what happens before Socrates? One crackpot idea after another >.>). It shouldn't be too bad but I will need to review like crazy.
Oral Interpretation of Literature (4:15-6:15) - the Dr. Perry class! I'm going to do my oral interpretation recital tomorrow (Frankentastic!) but the final is just a (cruel) test made up of the (boring) information contained in the book and the lectures. I took the Voice and Diction final in the Spring and it was utterly horrible. The only good news is there's a curve.
Wednesday: Literary Theory (1:30-3:30) - My final final! This one's the final I have to study the most for too (which makes it good that it comes right at the end of my finals. We're supposed to know a whole bunch of different movements and theories about analzying literature (name dropping too D:). I'm not quite sure about the format, last time he gave us some options but he didn't say anything about that this time around. Either way, I should be fine if I study (and if he doesn't ask any questions pertaining directly to the Hurston book since I never read it).
What I've done this week (in working terms):
-Wrote an 8 page paper for Lit Theory
-Wrote a 4 page paper for Oral Interpretation
-Read for English Lit
-Took an Ancient Philosopy test
-Wrote out an intro and practiced for Oral Interp
What I need to do:
-Give my oral interp recital
-Work on Bob's notes
-Study!
( Alucard Goes Where? )
So, anyway, after finals I'm hoping to fall into the happiness of stupidity for about a month (recovery tiem O:?) Persona 4 is supposedly coming out the week of finals so I see that game as a way to celebrate my completing the semester! (warning, there will likely be an entry on that too)

(Let's see what happens) This entry celebrates my "Achtung, baby" Klavier icon. I love you, Ace Attorney series.
Oh yeah, my life. It's been pretty uneventful.
School sends me into horrible shivers of PANIC now since it's nearing the end of the semester. Since, you see, there are three weeks till Thanksgiving week (only 2 days), then one week, then FINALS.
Here's my list of things to do by class before the end of the semester.
Monday/Wednesday:
English Literature Survey
-Read a whole bunch of stuff by British people (those crazy brits)
-Read Frankenstein (not very long)
-Write a longer paper
-Do 5 more reading logs by November 24
-THE FINAL (I got a good grade on the midterm. This surprised me.)
Literary Theory:
-Read some more books (GAAH)
-Write a longer paper on one of these books
-FIRST do a presentation on this paper in progress - on November 24 (this was my decision actually)
-THE FINAL (I also did well on this midterm. What's up with that?)
Tuesday/Thursday:
Ancient Philosophy:
-STUDY QUESTIONS, BABY!
-Read that "Trial of Socrates" thing
-2 more regular essay tests
-THE FINAL (mostly a review to encapsulate the semester)
Oral Interpretation:
-Another Quiz?
-MONOLOGUE (no time limit - I need to find one D:)
-Write an explication of said monologue
-POETRY READING (4-5 minutes) (amusing since Dr. Perry was going on and he said, specifically, "don't do poetry" and so this one girl replied "uh...aren't we going to have a poetry reading?" and he said "yes.")
-Poetry explication
-THE RECITAL (8-9 minutes)
-Paper on the recital
So this semester's all reading. I found this out about two weeks in and I've been trying to get my attention to it ever since. My sucess has been varied depending on the class and the reading. It's a good thing I read fast (though I know I have ZERO participation points in Dr. Lonchar's class...but there are, like, 9 students who are apparently Englishy geniuses who go on a rampage worthy of Hermione whenever she asks what we thought of a certain reading. By the time she asks for any other volunteers the topic is usually exhausted.)
( Other Stuff )
So, really, that's all that's been going on. I have an appoitment with Dr. Gledhill on Wednesday to hopefully evaluate the state of my PAIN! (I've been having a bit more than usual lately but it's not really all that bad. Still, it'd be nice to see my back doctor anyway)
